Enigmatic South African performer and storyteller, Andries Vermeulen, brings to Carnival City’s Mardi Gras Theatre a live showcase of his greatest hits and best stories from his new album, In Afrikaans.
Vermeulen’s new double album In Afrikaans comprises ten power songs and 30 stories guaranteeing listening pleasure. On 10 November 2018, fans can sing along to these as well as enjoy some amazing storytelling by Vermeulen himself.
“This is definitely my best compilation of stories and music yet,” Vermeulen says, “The stories on the album will make you laugh but also remember the good days gone by.” He says the storytelling on the album will make you forget about your problems and reflects the nostalgia brought about when stories are told in Afrikaans.
“We are excited to be hosting an Afrikaans storyteller, singer and TV presenter of this calibre,” says Michelle Smith, Marketing Manager of Carnival City.
For many, Vermeulen has simply been a face on television where he and Pietman Geldenhuys present the popular Afrikaans show Oppiestoep on KykNET, hosting interesting guests from all over South Africa.
Vermeulen’s previous album Kô lag ‘n bietjie sold over 24 000 copies and remained on the Top 20 Sellers for six consecutive weeks in 2016. This album also won a KykNET Ghoema Award for the best humor album in 2016 and was nominated for a Huisgenoot Tempo Award.
