In its effort to promote sport and recreation amongst underprivileged communities, the Wild Coast Sun has lent a welcome helping hand to the Bizana Pondo Chiefs, an amateur football club in the rural community of Bizana.

Bizana Pondo Chiefs FC has been plying its trade in the ABC Motsepe League and it is a registered as a non-profit organization. Like many teams that reside from rural areas, the team has been struggling financially as it has no major sponsors.

Over the past few months, the resort has sponsored food parcels for the club house and has also assisted with arranging accommodation for the teams when they travel to areas where there are Sun International hotels. The Bizana Pondo Chiefs can also look forward to receiving new kits from the Wild Coast Sun for the 2018 / 2019 season.

In July, the Bizana Pondo Chiefs got to stage their 2018 Awards Ceremony at the Wild Coast Sun. The event was attended by Myan Moodley, Mbizana Local Municipality Mayor, Cllr TD Mafumbatha, former Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs Captain Jimmy Tau, and other SAFA representatives.

At the event, the club’s General Manager Loyiso Jokweni said: “I must say the 2018 Awards Ceremony was not only a great step ahead but probably what I have always envisioned the awards to be; classy and glamorous.

“Everything from the setting of the venue to the production of the show as well as food, was top notch. Today we are in a position where, to use a soccer analogy, we must be effective in our defense of our Corporate Sponsorship. Allow me to allay the fears of Mr. Moodley and his Board of Directors and reassure him that his brand reputation is safe with us.”
