Durban Gqom meets local Amapiano in All Stars Concert

The best of Durban Gqom meets the best of homegrown Pretoria Amapiano in the 012 vs 013 All Stars Concert at the Sun Arena, Time Square on 28th September 2019. Gqom is a genre of electronic dance music that emerged in the early 2010s in Durban, South Africa. It developed out of South African house music, kwaito and hip-hop. Gqom is typified by minimal, raw and repetitive sound with heavy bass beats but without the four-on-the-floor rhythm pattern.

Amapiano is a new sound which has its origins in the capital city of Pretoria and is taking over the airwaves. Partygoers in Mzansi can’t seem to get enough of it. The sound which is known as “amapiano” is a mix of deep house and gqom mixed with the jazzy, soulful sound of a piano.

In Gqom vs Amapiano, with the Sun Arena as the battleground, Quaver Events brings together the likes of DJ Tira, Naak Musiq, Vigro Deep, DJ Sumbody, Destruction Boyz, Professor, Lamiez Holworthy, Da Josh, DJ Cndo, Leehleza, DJ Maphorisa, Team Mosha, Dr Malinga, Kabza Da Small, Jazzi Desciples and many more. Zodwa wa Bantu and Liquid Metsi are the hosts for the evening.
