Cape Town-born musician, Jonathan Rubain, is set to dazzle the audience with his latest musical spectacular, Pinkster in GrandWest. Born and bred in Hanover Park, 33-year-old Rubain, will perform on 31 August 2019 at the Grand Arena, GrandWest. He is hoping to deliver a sold-out concert experience at this venue which will make him the first ever, local gospel musician to do so.
“I am excited to host my very own concert at the Grand Arena, GrandWest as a solo artist,” says Rubain. “I really can’t wait to deliver a world-class show that will be memorable for years to come.” Pinkster in GrandWest is his biggest show to date.
This concert will showcase Rubain’s original music and many popular gospel songs, sprinkled with some “koordans music”, it will focus mainly on Jonathan`s life, and love for the music of the Church.
“Jonathan Rubain will make sure his fans get up and ‘koordans’ to his ‘koortjie hits,” says Elouise Matthys, the PR and Promotions Manager at GrandWest. “Church-lovers can expect a wonderful evening with lighting and sound to ensure an all-around stellar performance.”
Despite growing up in a community infected with gangsterism and drugs, Rubain has been playing music since he was young and attributes music to keeping him off the streets in Hanover Park.
Having performed all over the world with some of the biggest names in gospel music, including Kirk Whalum, the concert will also feature some of his closest musical friends.
Tickets are available on Computicket or via Checkers and Shoprite retail stores and start at R100 each.
