Jazz on the Lawn is happening again. Windmill has announced that the next event on 31 March 2019 will feature South African bassist, writer and producer Sakhile Mpendulo Nkosi as well as a lineup of local artists. They will fill the air with the sound of soothing jazz from 14h00 to 20h00.
Nkosi was brought up in a musical family and began playing the piano from the tender age of eight. Not long after, that he demonstrated signs of being a professional musician, leading and arranging for acapella groups in his early teens and writing and compiling a song book for his high school. This experience sharpened his musical abilities and it came as no surprise when he followed his passion and enrolled at a music institution after completing high school.
He has worked internationally with Dommel Graaff Theater Productions in Holland, Leoni Jansen (Holland), Mark Tuinstra (Holland), and recorded with Dutch Electro Band Polynation. Locally, he has worked with Gloria Bosman, Wanda Baloyi, Bernice Boikanyo, Vusi Khumalo, Jazz Divas ( Sibongile Khumalo, Gloria Bosman, Melanie Scholtz and Tutu Puoane), Tlale Makhene, Tshepo Mngoma, James Ngcobo and RJ Benjamin just to name a few. Nkosi is in the process of completing his debut album and enjoys the pleasure of touring locally and abroad with his Quartet.
Catch him live at Jazz on the Lawn. Food and drinks will be on sale throughout the afternoon. No picnic baskets or cooler boxes will be permitted into the event. However, revellers are encouraged to bring picnic blankets to relax on.
