Local band Soulmajestik to share the stage with SA’s best at Sun City’s Big 40th

Sun City is marking 40 great years of premium hospitality, glamour gambling and unsurpassed entertainment. Topping off the year-long celebrations, is the Big 40 Birthday Party on 7 December 2019, featuring a thrilling line-up of South Africa’s hottest bands and DJs as well as fresh new talent.

“As always, we honour our commitment to nurturing local performing arts talent from within our immediate community and sphere of influence by including some exciting, emerging talent on the bill for our official birthday party on 7 December. Sharing the stage with some of the country’s biggest acts is local three piece house/dance band Soulmajestik from Rustenburg,” says Mike van Vuuren, General Manager at Sun City.

The name Soulmajestik simply means exaltation of inner being, and in this case the band expresses this inner being through music. This dynamic band won the chance to perform at multi award-winning SA artist, Donald’s concert at Sun City earlier this year, following a series of auditions with the well known artist. The band has since enjoyed mentorship with Donald and now gets the chance to share the stage with top artists at Sun City’s official Big 40 Birthday Party.

The members of Soulmajestik include keyboardist and producer KR (Kego Rapoo), DJ and producer DJ Batch (Tshepo Diphoko) and percussionist and vocalist Tshepzoo (Tshepo Sithole). They attribute their success in writing, producing and performing their own very unique music to their various different musical backgrounds. KR is a producer for many different styles including African gospel, kwaito, hip hop, R&B and house.

He has also taken part in choirs such as Luka Seven Rocks and Luka Happy Boys. DJ Batch has been a house DJ for quite some time, and has also been producing and engineering for many artists. Tshepzoo is a trombone player in a brass band and was also a member of the Luka Happy Boys.

Soulmajestik’s distinctive sound incorporates house/dance music with a whole lot of an African feel. The band’s music is influenced by the likes of Rhythmic Elements, Black Coffee and Black Motion as well as jazz music legends like Stimela and the late Hugh Masekela.

Do not miss out on the opportunity to see this incredible local band perform at Sun City’s Big 40 Birthday Party which will feature a concert at Valley of Waves with a host of top South African artists like Kwesta, Shekhinah, Dr Victor & The Rasta Rebels, Kurt Darren, Mi Casa and a special lively production showcasing the resort’s history, culminating with a dazzling fireworks display.

After this concert the Sun Arena comes alive with The Big 40 After Party, featuring Somizi as the MC and Goodluck, Sho Madjozi, AKA, Prince Kaybee, DJ Christos and Vinny da Vinci and DJ Tira.
