Fresh from the catwalk at New York Fashion Week, Miss South Africa, Zozibini Tunzi is the guest speaker at The Indwangu Arts and Fashion Fair, at the Wild Coast Sun Casino and Resort.
In this, the third Arts and Fashion Fair CSI initiative, the line-up of what was formerly just a fashion show, has been extended to include an arts and crafts exhibition and a wine tasting.
“The event took place on one day in the past but now stretches over two days and is more jam-packed with things to see and do and a spectacular show to watch than ever before,” says Mawande Genu, PR Co-ordinator at Wild Coast Sun.
The focus of this initiative is to provide under privileged girls with sanitary pads.
Miss South Africa, Zozibini, says: “I’m very happy to be associated with an initiative that dedicates itself to helping young girls who, without sanitary towels, often have to miss school.”
“We are providing a platform for aspiring young artists, crafters, designers and entertainers. In addition, we – in conjunction with the Walter Sisulu University and Mbizana Local Municipality – have donated R30 000 toward this cause.
“We want to focus on young girls from poor homes who need our assistance,” said Genu.
A further 60 percent of all proceeds from ticket sales will go toward promoting and protecting women’s dignity by buying sanitary pads for these girls.
The event takes place from 18h00 to 21h00 on 25 October and from 16h00 to 18h00 on 26 October. Tickets cost R80 per person per event. Mothers gain entry for themselves and a daughter under the age of 18 on one ticket.
The event on 25 October ends with a fashion show where models will showcase designs by the best local designers in the region.
