No Invite – Johannesburg’s women only nightlife experience
No Invite #3 The All-Girls Party on Saturday 5 September

Girl’s just wanna have fun, and their call has been answered! Welcome to an experience created exclusively for women by No Invite founder, Lav Pather. No Invite is all about celebrating the music, culture and energy of female artists through Hip Hop and Pop. Creating an intentional space where women can feel free, comfortable and fully themselves. As conversations around women’s safety in nightlife continue to grow, No Invite wanted to create something that responds to what so many women have been asking for.
What is No Invite?

“Our aim was to give women a space to exist without consequences. t’s not just about excluding men. It’s about excluding everything they come with.”

Press Statement
South Africa has gifted the world some of its greatest music. Amapiano crossed oceans and our DJs fill festivals on every continent. And yet many of the women who helped build that culture don’t feel safe enough to go outside and experience it.
That is the contradiction that created NO INVITE.
While red pill culture and misogyny dominate global conversations online, South African women have been navigating something far more brutal. Gender based violence is not a culture war talking point here. It is a daily reality. And nowhere is that reality felt more quietly than in nightlife.
The stress of getting there. The stress of getting home. The Body shaming, The drink spiking. The fear of being harassed, or assulted for turning down men’s advances. The exhaustion of existing in a space that was never designed with women’s comfort & safety in mind. For many women, the cons stopped being cons and turned into risks. And those risks have left enough trauma in enough friend groups to function as warnings passed quietly from woman to woman.
And then there is the music.
One of the biggest attractions of club culture was the music. Dancing, losing yourself on the dancefloor and singing every word to every song you knew and loved. But bottle service culture turned dance floors into champagne battlefields. The music suffered and it shows. Nobody is dancing. The DJ isn’t playing anything for the girls. And in the rare moment when they do, there is still the fear of being recorded, mocked or harassed for simply taking up space.
NO INVITE is the answer to all of it.
Founded by DJ Pure Lav, a Johannesburg based DJ and creative agency owner, NO INVITE is a simple comcept. Its not a brunch, not a networking event, it’s a sweaty, glamorous CLUB NIGHT. No men. Zero VIP sections. No dress code beyond whatever makes you feel good. Women are encouraged to come alone and find their people on the night. To dress as boldly as they want. To dance without looking over their shoulder. Built entirely for women. By a woman who was tired of waiting for someone else to build it.
The music is curated specifically for the women in the room. The best 2000s hip hop and pop. And then there is the Trinity Hour, two hours dedicated exclusively to Beyonce, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj. Not just the hits. The deep cuts. The sad songs. The extended versions- because nothing is more frustrating than finally being ready to perform the full choreography of Single Ladies only for the DJ to cut it at the chorus.
Every edition of NO INVITE also comes with a theme. Not a dress code. An invitation. A reason to wear that crop top that shows your stomach and the mini-skirt that shows your cellulite. Dress exactly as you would if there were only women in the room, because there is! No one to sexualize you, make you feel insecure or tell you you’re being “too much” with your make-up. This is a chance for women to dress solely for the female gaze. Turning the art of make-up, hair and outfits into a moment not a concern.
Across two sold out editions NO INVITE has welcomed over 500 women through its doors. The third edition takes place this Saturday 5 September at Artistry, Johannesburg. And the theme is STARLIGHT
