Outrageously funny, authentically local and sometimes a little on the controversial side, Skhumba Hlophe is on a mission to make people all over the country laugh a little…or a lot. Back with a brand new one-man special, Hlophe brings his national tour #IMeanBizniss to Meropa on 20 April 2019.
Skhumba has become a household name thanks to his role as Bheki in SABC1’s comedy series Thandeka’s Diary and as host of Good Friday with Skhumba and Ndumiso on Kaya FM. But it is stand up comedy that really drives him. Known for his raw, sometimes even crude jokes about anything and everything from politics to celebrities, nothing is off-limits with Skhumba.
Although Skhumba is sometimes misunderstood, he never allows anyone to keep him down. His character is of one not easily offended, a real go-getter who always gets back up when he has fallen.
This co-host of Change Down on Mzansi Magic with Boity Thulo has achieved many a great things to celebrate. He states boldly that one of his greatest achievements is Walk This Way with Skhumba, which is his annual wheelchair drive which has grown in leaps and bounds since 2016. The wheelchairs donated to those in need of them have been a source of great inspiration among his peers who come together and help Skhumba achieve his goals every year.
He is the most nominated comedian for the Savanna Comic’s Choice Awards, boasting another four category nominations this year again and with all the recognition he is getting from the industry and his followers, it is befitting that he has called his brand new one-man special #IMeanBizniss because it shows that not only does he take his craft seriously but that the industry and his fans take him seriously and recognise his passion.
Tickets are priced from R165 per person and are available from Computicket and all Shoprite/Checkers outlets. The show starts at 20h00.
