Splashy Fen: Day One Underway!

Early bird campers were treated to beautifully clear skies as Day One of the 30th edition of Splashy Fen Music Festival kicked off with a festive bang.

The sun is out, the camp site is filling up and the festivities are well under way in the rolling foothills of Underberg as the 30th Annual Splashy Fen Music Festival begins.

With temperatures expected to reach a high of 26 today, the oldest and longest running music festival in South Africa will not disappoint!

At the time of this release the festival has welcomed a total of 2711 people to the site – with thousands set to arrive over the next 24 hours.

Music-loving fans can look forward to a host of exciting activities at Splashy Fen this Easter long weekend, including a guest appearance by the iconic PJ Powers on Sunday afternoon, a crazy jazz balkany set by Durban locals Veranda Panda, a Splashy silent disco, a dance set by East Coast Radio’s Bongani Mtolo and so much more!

An updated venue layout boasts strategically designated and decorated areas for all to enjoy, entertainment and chill zones, craft stalls and artisanal food vendors, separate camping areas for families, teepee owners, general happy campers and those who prefer something a bit less rustic at the Harambee Tented Village.

Over 100 local and international acts are set to play across 5 unique stages over 4 days. Today’s musical line-up includes the likes of FREDDY-L, Alchemy, Bad Peter, Gavin Ferguson, and David Fisher, who will officially open as the first at for #Splashy2019 and more great South Africa and international talent.

Jordan Milton and his friends have made the trek from Johannesburg to be at the festival again this year. “There is a vibe here,” says Milton. “It amazes me how each year we come back, and it feels like a happy, comfortable, welcoming home away from home. The sun is out, the music is playing, and the people are so friendly. We’ve been here three hours and we’re already making memories!”.

Day Pass Tickets are available at the gate. Day rates are as follows: Thursday – R300, Friday – R450, Saturday – R450 and Sunday – R450. Full festival rate is charged and when attendees leave before 10h00 they are refunded based on the days spent on site.
