The Vast Oddity hang out with our Photographer Gordon Date for a shoot on “Tweni” beach

On an awesomely overcast day, we got to do a band photoshoot with Gordon Date from Whitelens Photography before a gig we had at The Spot Backpackers in Umtentweni.

We took photos both at the backpackers and on Tweni beach. Some people left a sort of gated off square area with sticks in the beach sand and it looked so artsy so we made use of that. It was pretty improvised and we and Gordon Date threw a couple ideas around and just tried some. It started drizzling slightly so it was really surreal to shoot on the beach in that kind of weather. Really fun. We just felt bad for our guitars (haha!).

We’ve recently relocated to Scottburgh, so what an awesome start to our musical journey at the coast. The event we had afterwards at the backpackers was out of this world. First gig of the year, and first gig of our new chapter. Our super talented mates, Andrew Lange, Cornelius van Aswegen and Kyle Smith also played on the night. They’ve recently joined up as ‘The Undercover Dutchman and The Too’. Absolutely incredible. We had such a jol, and the turnout was huge. We were in awe of the whole night (after Ruan Van Der Merwe saved our equipment from the rain with his gazebos)!

With a lot of excitement already building up for us this year, we can announce that more of our music will be readily available on all major online music platforms. Our 7 track album, Liquid Sun, has been available in hard copy form for some time, but we’re planning on releasing the album online very soon. Keep posted to hear the release date!
