Tevin Campbell live in Pretoria for the first time

Time Square is excited to welcome platinum selling singer and songwriter, Tevin Campbell, to the Sun Arena on 2 August 2019 for his first ever show in Pretoria. This show, like his previous concerts in South Africa in 2013 and 2016, is expected to sell out quickly.

“What a coup to have Tevin Campbell performing on our stage in August. This concert will mark his first ever in Tshwane,” says Brett Hoppé, the General Manager at Time Square, adding that Campbell is the first of two international artists performing at the Sun Arena in August 2019. Iconic R&B singer, Joe Thomas performs at the Sun Arena on 30 August 2019.

Fans can expect to hear many of Campbell’s popular hits as well as new material. During his career, Campbell has been mentored by some of the world’s legendary artists including Quincy Jones and Prince. He has also worked with some of the industry’s top writers and producers including Babyface, Al B. Sure, Narada Michael Walden, Wyclef and Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Jones took a special interest in Campbell’s talent and featured on “Tomorrow (A Better You, Better Me)”, which hit number one on the R&B charts in June 1990. Later that year, he appeared in Prince’s Graffiti Bridge film singing “Round and Round” which became a gold single. In the summer of 1991, he featured on the soundtrack to Boyz in the Hood singing “Just Ask Me To”, which went on to become a Top Ten R&B hit. All of this set the stage for his debut album, 1991’s T.E.V.I.N., which went platinum and included two R&B chart toppers, “Tell Me What You Want Me to Do” and “Alone with You”, as well as the R&B Top Five hit “Goodbye”.

I’m Ready, released two years later, went double platinum and featured three R&B chart hits, “Can We Talk”, “I’m Ready” and “Always in My Heart”. Campbell’s compilation album The Best of Campbell was an international success, reaching multi platinum status in Africa, Japan and the UK.

In recent years, Campbell has performed on Broadway, playing the role of Seaweed J. Stubbs in the musical Hairspray. Campbell reprised his role of Seaweed in the Broadway musical, Hairspray, in the Melbourne and Sydney productions in Australia.

Tickets to Tevin Campbell’s one night only concert at Time Square are priced from R350 per person at Computicket.
