The date is set for all-night ‘Wild Waves Pool Party’ at the Wild Coast Sun

Chill out under warm South Coast summer skies at the Wild Coast Sun’s Wild Waves Pool Party on 6 April 2019. With a pristine backdrop, awesome DJs on the decks and a great vibe, this is a pool party you don’t want to miss. Prominent local DJs hitting the decks are Dj Sox, DJ Funky QLa and Sketchy Bongo. Also in the mix are BlaQ Souls, DJ Wami, DJ Luh, Rawnik, DJ Bunene, Joe Da DJ and DJ Nelou.

DJ Sox needs little introduction to those on KwaZulu-Natal’s club scene. He is part of DJ duo, Durban’s Finest. DJ Sox started playing in nightclubs at age 18 and that was due to his successful house parties that got him attention from Clubs and other promoters. Before he knew it, he was playing at top nights clubs and parties around the country and abroad with big name DJs.

Durbanite, Sketchy Bongo whose real name is Yuvir Pillay is known for wearing a ski mask which is his signature. He started producing beats and making hip hop music at the age of 13 together with his long-time friend Arnold “Aewon Wolf” Phillips. In 2012 he got a chance to play his own songs in Durban clubs after event organiser and club DJ George Kretsos offered him a spot in his line-up. He is a part of a group called Wolf Pack, which consists of a group of producers, artists, graphic designers, rappers and kwaito artists. In April 2016, he was signed by a US label, Ultra. He is the only producer in South Africa to have his own feature on MTV Base, which playlisted all tracks produced by him.

Funky Qla, real name Sphamandla Qiniso Ngema, is a Durban based music maestro who produces Gqom House; the dark steel-cladded, drum- pounding music genre straight from the Durban townships. The #FreshPrinceOfGqom has been making music since 2011 but gained traction in the year 2016 when he produced “Konke Kuhamba Kahle” that featured in Durban’s Finest Reloaded album. His latest offerings are OBALEKA, featuring DJ Websta; Biggie on the vocals, as well as GWARA GWARA by DJ Bongz, both which dropped in the first quarter of 2018.
