SA Music News Magazine recently had an exclusive opportunity for an in-depth chat to Prog Rock Prodigy Robyn Ferguson to ask her about some of her favorite things for a look at this extraordinary lady behind the epic music!

Age: 29

Height: Roughly 1.6m

Favourite Album: Polyphia Renaissance, it’s beautifully phrased and well put together.

Favourite Genre: Prog- there’s freedom to create and mix unusual elements

Favourite Book: The complete works of Edgar Allan Poe. I find his works reflect his state of mind and emotions in a unique way and I’ve always admired it.

Favourite Instrument: Guitar. It has saved my life and is my outlet.

Favourite live show you played: Rock no Rio in Angola – it was the most unique and epic event and opened my mind to a lot more and showed me that if you put your mind to something you can achieve greatness.

Your Hobbies: airbrushing, sculpture, and art in general. I also enjoy reading and being in nature.

Favourite Movie: Almost any Tim Burton movie – he’s a brilliant artist.

Favourite Quote: Work hard, play hard!

Favourite Place: Being on stage. It doesn’t matter where, when, or what has happened, because the second you set up there it all melts away and you’re in your purpose. It’s freedom!

Most Admired Musician: It morphs because there are so many but the tip of the list would be Devin Townsend for his creative mind and process. Daniel Tompkins is another and for a similar reason. I feel I could learn a great deal musically from both of them.

Favourite Robyn Ferguson Song: The Oceanborn – it opened the door for me and is a lot of fun to perform.
