‘Carl Hitchborn is on a Mission to Build the Biggest and Fairest Music Company in the World and in the Process, Create A Brand New Music Industry Where Artists Don’t Just Survive, They Thrive.’
LA-based, British entrepreneur Carl Hitchborn otherwise known as ‘The Baker’ and South African Native Dan Shaw, have today revealed a blueprint to build the biggest and fairest music company in the world and in the process, create a brand new music industry where artists don’t just survive, they thrive.
Through a newly formed organization called Escape Ark, Hitchborn’s vision includes the creation of an education system called ‘The Escape Ark Incubation & Acceleration Program’. The program has two objectives.
Firstly, to empower artists (and people who work with artists) to take control of their own careers outside of the traditional broken music industry and in the process create a brand new music industry where artists don’t just survive, they thrive. Secondly, to create a conveyor belt of talent for Escape Ark to partner with, towards the goal of building the biggest and fairest music company in the world.
Co-founded with South African native Dan Shaw and US based Jamie Mustard and David Miranda, Escape Ark has been formed with the purpose of Solving The World’s Problems Through Art.
The current mission – to build the biggest and fairest music company in the world and in the process, create a brand new music industry where artists don’t just survive, they thrive – has been set because music transcends and connects with every single person on earth and is the vehicle for the collaboration of artists of all types.
Creating the biggest and fairest music company in the world and in the process, creating a brand new music industry may sound like an impossible mission, however, Carl has already proven his new model will be highly effective in making this a reality.
In 2015, Carl launched UK alternative rock band, The Hunna. Taking them from unknown, to selling out two back to back shows (5000 capacity) at the Brixton Academy venue in London in less than 18 months from their first-ever show.
In that time frame, they also sold 60,000 albums in the UK, 85,000 tickets, as well as generating over 150M streams. All via a holistic pioneering new model that tipped the traditional industry structure on its head and caused shockwaves that were felt by those not ready to embrace change.
With the model proven, Carl has spent the past two years developing ‘The Escape Ark Incubation & Acceleration Program’. This program goes beyond education, as it also offers support, mentorship, community, software tools, and for those who excel, a potential route to become a partnered project in the music company that Carl believes will inevitably become the biggest and fairest in the world.
‘The Escape Ark Incubation & Acceleration Program’ already has 500 founding members and will officially be launching on the 1st of November 2020. There are already a number of projects in the program that have been excelling and in the coming months, Escape Ark will be announcing partnership with these projects.
“Escape Ark is the vehicle we’ve created to help artists to escape the current broken music industry, and take them to a brand new one. Over the past two years, I’ve personally built a tribe of over 20,000 artists (and people who work with artists), have connected with over 5000 of them via one on one video calls and have also recruited 500 founding members in ‘The Escape Ark Incubation & Acceleration Program’.
What is very clear to me, is that the demand for this vision is so big, that it can’t possibly not become a reality! The exciting thing is, we are not just talking about this, we are already doing it. What we are building is so incredible for artists, that before the traditional broken music industry knows it, our ecosystem will become the go-to place for all new talent.
The traditional broken music industry owns the history of music but it will not own the future!” – says Hitchborn.
About Carl Hitchborn
Carl Hitchborn is an entrepreneur, disruptor, and innovator that lives to challenge everything and to pioneer on a daily basis. He is on a mission to build the ‘Biggest & Fairest Music Company in the World’ under the brand name Escape Ark and in the process, create a ‘Brand New Music Industry’, where artists don’t just survive, they thrive.
Carl Hitchborn ran a bakery business with his family who did not share his limitless and global ambitions. So with no prior knowledge, experience, or connections, he decided to embark on a completely new direction and entered the music industry due to the fact that music is truly global – it touches and connects all of us.
Carl spent years learning about the music industry – discovering how broken it was and deciding he was not prepared to operate in the same way.
Carl took UK alternative rock band ‘The Hunna’ from obscurity to selling 10,000 tickets in London in less than 2 years from their first-ever headline show – selling 60,000 albums in the UK, 85,000 tickets and generating 150m+ streams in the process.
Carl, through his research and experience, believes that the music industry is currently broken and one that stifles the artist through unfair practices, controls and restrictions.
