They’d love to see you at one of their gigs, so go party with them. The Vast Oddity formed in 2017 and haven’t looked back since.
They’ve performed at nearly 30 venues in Gauteng and KwaZulu Natal.
With the use of two guitars, two vocals, a loop pedal and a pinch of sound experimentation, they bring their music to life.
The Vast Oddity Bio
Using 2 guitars, 2 vocals, a loop pedal, stomp-box and a pinch of sound experimentation, The Vast Oddity creates a sound that will take you on a journey like no other. Allowing your soul and physical self to be freed and moved. Trippy, surfer, spacey, experimental, thumping, and freeing sounds.
The surreal duo from Johannesburg, was formed at long last in 2017. Both members of the band, Cayla Louw and Chad Thompson, have had a great love for music since very young. Both playing guitar for well over a decade, and writing songs in their individual musical paths – even before the band – for almost as long as they can remember. Singing was of course, a natural bi-product and passion. Coming together as The Vast Oddity, many elements influence each member in their inspirations and writing, whether it be space, the ocean, the modern world and crazy society, strange ideas or unusual concepts, they’ll keep your mind and thoughts entertained and wandering.
Since forming, the band has released 4 singles – Beautifully High, Can’t Surf, Swell and Squares are People Too – on all major online music platforms including iTunes, Apple Music, 7Digital, Spotify and Deezer. They also held their Liquid Sun EP Launch on the 28th April 2018 at Railways Café in Centurion, and are looking forward to promoting their album nationwide for the next while.
The band has had the privilege of being interviewed and playing on air on several Radio Stations, including Eden Radio on the Miller Time show, and Mix 93.8 FM for Marshall Music Live Sessions.
Their singles have hit the airwaves on the above mentioned Radio Stations as well as SME Fusion Radio, KZN Capital, RA Rock Radio, on which their single Swell made the Top 40, Youth Today Radio and Zone Radio on which their single ‘Squares Are People Too’ reached number 1 on the top 40.
The Vast Oddity has performed at almost 30 different venues in over 9 cities/towns in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal, and are getting ready to go on their second KZN tour.
