Get ready for a thigh-slapping country showdown

 

Fans of country music can get their dancing shoes ready for the toe-tapping, thigh-slapping Country Legends Spectacular at Time Square’s Sun Arena in February. The date is set for Saturday, 23 February 2019.The concert brings together some of the biggest names in South African country music, including Lance James,  Barbara Ray,  Clive Bruce,  Sally Vaughn, Jody Wayne and  Tommy Dell,  all of whom have been at the forefront of entertainment for decades in South Africa. The runaway success of their previous shows which have taken the Country Legends to cities and towns across South Africa proves that country music is alive in kicking. A huge crowd is expected for this country music extravaganza at the Sun Arena. Tickets are on sale at Computicket at R150 per person.

“Together these country stars are going to have country music fans bopping and weaving from start to finish. It’s going to be a spectacular and fun-filled show,” says Brett Hoppé, General Manager at Time Square.

Lance James is multi award winner, including six Lifetime Achievement Awards for his contribution and dedication to the music industry.  His “Keep It Country” programme on radio has been running for more than 38 years and is now broadcast on 14 stations countrywide and on internet radio.

Barbara Ray has earned more than 22 Gold records during her career, with numerous awards as well.   With hits like “Who’se Gonna Tie My Shoes”, “Down the Mississippi” and “I don’t Wanna Play House”, this lady is still as popular as ever.

Clive Bruce is one of the smoothest and most versatile entertainers in South Africa. He presented the “Sing Country” TV shows for five years on TV4, and “Rewind” for three years.   He has had various hits in his career, including the popular “One Last Kiss”

Sally Vaughn known is known for her great hit “Glory Glory Hallelujah” amongst others.  She received a standing ovation in the USA when she performed this song, to 20 000 people. The vibrant and energetic Rodeo Girls are a well-known line-dancing group that has travelled the world and received international acclaim for their performances.

Tommy Dell represented South Africa in Nashville USA in the 1980s.  He has numerous gold and platinum albums under his belt and is known for his vibrant stage act.  Presently he hosts the breakfast show on Helderberg 95.9 FM, in the Cape.

Jody Wayne is another esteemed, platinum selling recording artist, producer, and entertainer who has earned numerous gold and platinum discs for recording (23 discs), and for producing young talent (24 discs).  He is known for hits like “Patches”, “16 Candles”, and “The Wedding”.
