A wish for reliable transport comes true -The Sibaya Community Trust has answered the call for help from The Verulam Child and Family Welfare Society. This, by donating a brand new vehicle for the organisation to transport the children in their care.
The Welfare’s existing vehicle was old and had become unreliable. The new seven seater Suzuki Ertiga was handed over by the MEC of EDTEA, Sihle Zikalala, Chairman of the Sibaya Community Trust Vivian Reddy, Trustees Judge Vuka Tshabalala and Tristan Kaatze on Friday, 10 May 2019.

The Verulam Child Welfare has a safe house that provides interim shelter. Offering food and love for children who have been abused or abandoned or awaiting a more permanent home. The new vehicle will be used to transport the children to school and Doctor’s appointments.
It will also be assisting the organization in their day to day operations. The organisation has various components. This includes social work, educational programmes on abuse and HIV/AIDS, poverty alleviation, youth and women empowerment programmes as well as statutory services.
Mr Reddy said: “The Welfare needed a reliable vehicle to enable them to safely transport the children. We are happy to be in a position to assist such organisations in times of need.”
The Sibaya Community Trust was formed in 1998. This, with the intention of being a catalyst for social development and philanthropy in the area in which it operates. The trust focuses on community upliftment projects in the EThekwini and ILembe districts. The emphasis is on health, social and community development, and education.
To date, the Trust has spent R50-million in Ilembe. Major projects have included; 11-million on the Matric Academic Development Initiative, R20-million in skills development programmes and R5-million in social and community development support. Over 170 organisations have benefited from funds and initiatives by the Trust.
