As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, and in light of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s address on Sunday night prohibiting gatherings of over 100 people, all outside events scheduled to take place at Windmill between now and 1 May 2020 have been postponed until further notice. These include Jazz on the Lawn on 29 March and the Old Mutual Race Day on 28 March 2020.
Windmill will work with promoters and organisers to reschedule these events when the period of the ban is known.
All of Sun International’s South African hotels and casinos, including Windmill, will remain open for business. Windmill’s conferencing venues will also operate as per usual. Events and meetings not exceeding one 100 people will continue to take place.
The President has specifically requested that entertainment centres bolster hygiene control. Sun International assures all of its visitors that this is already happening at all of its hotels, casinos and other facilities.
Sun International has always adhered to the strictest principles of hygiene and cleanliness at its hotels, casinos and other facilities. In addition to our ongoing cleaning schedules, we have introduced additional enhanced cleaning and other practices for housekeeping and food and beverage areas:
- Making hand sanitisers available at all entrances to hotels, casinos, conference areas. Hand sanitisers are also available in staff areas;
- Increased cleaning of surfaces in public areas;
- Enhanced cleaning of high touchpoint areas, for example door handles, escalator handrails, slot machines, elevator buttons and card machines, as examples;
- Constantly reviewing and stepping up hygiene and safety in all food preparation and handling areas;
- Our front of house messaging reminds all guests of the importance of personal hygiene and hand sanitising.
