‘iSWAZi’ is the sonic storytelling of a young woman fighting for her dreams through her struggles of trauma and pain. Though the album focuses mostly on her despair, it also offers magical moments of hope, resilience and victory. Namhla’s story conveys the message that there is always hope on the horizon. Regardless of the dark side on our road of life, we will find the light again with perseverance and faith. Welcome to Namhla’s journey.
“iSWAZi is a reflection of lifes lessons. Much like a branch picked from a tree. When we would do something wrong as children, we’d get a good old whipping. It is a symbol of the world’s painful teachings, even those that are unfair and unjust. Through this album I share stories shaped by witnessing hardship in my community.
