The Kimberley Diamond resurfaces with intention, clarity and courage
Throughout Resurfaced Lucille proudly honours her roots. The opening track D.Y. is an ode, a love letter to Kimberley introducing her hometown to the world with a blend of English and Afrikaans. It welcomes listeners into the spirit, pride and rhythm of where she comes from.
Another key moment on the EP is Rescue Me, a reimagined version of her 2018 release from her album Scratch The Surface. Re-recorded in 2025, it arrives with a more current refined sound. It is proof that music never gets old. It can always be reshaped and rediscovered.
The EP begins with a spoken word introduction by Kimberley’s cultural commentators Sip and Khwati. This grounds listeners in local lingo and identity before the musical journey unfolds. From there, the sound expands through global influences yet South African touches remain ever present. No matter how far the music travels, home always lingers.
