Hennessy Unveils New X.O Carafe  – Since 1870, Hennessy X.O has stood as the original Extra Old cognac, first crafted by Maurice Hennessy for his close circle of family and friends. More than 160 years later, each drop remains an odyssey of flavour. Unfolding in seven distinctive notes that embody timeless craftsmanship, refinement, and contemporary elegance.

This enduring legacy was honoured in Johannesburg on Tuesday evening at The Forum in Bryanston. The venue was transformed into a sensorial expression of Hennessy X.O.’s world of refinement. An intimate dining area where guests indulged in culinary and cultural experiences that echoed the Maison’s spirit.

South Africa’s industry leaders gathered for an exclusive evening that brought the Hennessy X.O spirit to life. The evening also marked a defining chapter for the Maison. This, with the showcase of the new Hennessy X.O carafe. A modern interpretation of a global Icon that has surpassed generations.

The President of Hennessy, Charles Delapalme joined the celebration. He reflected on the brand’s deep connection with South Africa, sharing, “It’s been an honour visiting South Africa. A country that deeply enjoys our cognac. Hennessy’s story with South Africa goes back almost 160 years. When the first case of Hennessy was shipped here.”  Speaking on Hennessy X.O’s lasting legacy, Charles Delapalme added, “It’s a great pleasure to share a glass of Hennessy X.O with all our friends tonight. For almost 160 years, Hennessy X.O has continued to grow from strength to strength. Defining excellence and setting the standard for the industry.”

Chef Wandile – creative process behind the menu

Hosted by media personality Luthando “LootLove” Shosha, attendees enjoyed a fine dining experience led by Chef Wandile Mabaso, that was curated to complement the depth and complexity of the cognac. Reflecting on his creative process behind the menu, Chef Wandile reminisced on his visit to Cognac, France five years ago, where he got the opportunity to learn about the history and culture of the city and the region. Creating a stunning pairing that perfectly highlighted the opulence and boldness of the Hennessy X.O. flavour profile.

The new Hennessy X.O carafe stood as the pinnacle moment. A contemporary expression of Hennessy’s eternal pursuit of excellence. It was presented before an audience of South Africa’s most distinguished tastemakers. These included Anele Mdoda, Laduma Ngxokolo and Trevor Stuurman. The refreshed design reflects the Maison’s balance of heritage and innovation. It boasts sleeker contours, refined detailing, and a modernised elegance. One that reinforces the iconic stature of Hennessy X.O.

The evening’s entertainment unfolded through sound and culture, curated to mirror the layered character of Hennessy X.O. Guests were welcomed by the ethereal melodies of Jude Harp, whose performance featuring a harp, violin, and saxophone set an elegant tone upon arrival.

The main stage came alive with the soulful storytelling of Muneyi, who was joined by media personality and rapper, Boitumelo Thulo, for an impromptu duet that had guests cheering. Their performance was followed by Kitchen Mess, who set the mood with smooth lounge beats that echoed South Africa’s rich musical heritage.

To close, Kabza De Small, longstanding Friend of the House, was joined by Skyes, Thatohasti, and Tracy. Together they brought the experience to an electrifying crescendo with a high-energy Amapiano set. Capturing the unmistakable rhythm and spirit of South Africa.

This curated multi-sensory experience reaffirmed Hennessy X.O.’s place as the epitome of sophistication and luxury. The evening marked a new chapter in the Maison’s story. One where heritage and modernity converge to create a unique and timeless Icon.
