Introducing Zeleah and the soundtrack for Summer, her fun & bubbly debut single ‘Be Like Me’
Vision Records and Gallo Record Company are excited to announce the release of Zeleah’s debut single ‘Be Like Me’ – out now across all digital platforms.
Vision Records has joined forces with Gallo Record Company to release music from their incredible artists through South Africa’s top independent label.
“When I first heard about Vision Records back in August this year, I was both intrigued and impressed. Although there is already some pedigree (Luke Goliath has worked with the likes of Shekhinah & Lady Zamar) it was great to see that there are still creatives out there on the indie scene developing and investing in artists and productions from a ground roots level.
These guys are breathing new life into the SA music scene! We are both excited and pleased to be in partnership with Vision Records, so watch this space whilst we begin to unearth and release some amazing new music and new talents,” comments Rob Cowling, GM of Gallo Music Group.
Vision Records was started by Luke Goliath and Chesney Bouw, and their goal is to transcribe all their creative ideas into musical bliss that people all over the world can enjoy. When they started Vision Records, they knew that it would be an uphill battle as they entered an industry where it was easy to fail if you don’t put in the work.
With their recent moves, they have certainly been doing that. Partnering with the likes of Gallo Record Company, they aim to bring us new music from artists like Zaybo, Zeleah, Micayla and many more. Luke and Chesney not only have a great partnership but friendship as well. They believe in the vision and the vision is to think different.
“We’re excited about the future with Gallo and hope to build something amazing in the years to come,” comments Chesney Bouw.
The first artist to have their single released is the incredibly talented young singer, Zeleah, who unveils her debut track ‘Be Like Me’ featuring rapper Zaybo.

Born in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape and now based in Port Elizabeth, Zeleah has had a passion and talent for singing all her life. Her debut single ‘Be Like Me’ is a bubbly fun pop track that 2020’s Summer needs to bring a happy sound to the coming holidays.
Talking about the single and the inspiration behind it, Zeleah says:
“So, basically the song is really fun and cheesy, but believe it or not, it’s about believing in yourself. At the end of the hook it says ‘cos you are everything you believe in’ which means that you can be whatever you want to be. Whatever you put your mind to you can achieve.”
She continues saying “The song theme is pretty much pop. When I was younger I was heavily influenced by super catchy songs. I remember I had this CD called ‘Pop Princess’ and I loved it. From singers like Britney Spears to Katy Perry, the music is just super funky and catchy. It is sort of like A Spice Girls ‘wannabe’.”
Zeleah worked with Luke Goliath from Vision Records and Zaybo on the single and recalls the way the song came to life, explaining “Luke came up with these really funky chords and initially it reminded me of a disco sort of funk. I came up with a few melodies and believe me they were all cool, but we just thought we could come up with something better.
We decided to scratch that idea and then we played around with some more melodies and then BOOM! The super catchy ‘if you wanna be like me’ phrase came about. Zaybo heard it and suggested we add a little rap verse, which obviously he killed! It made everything come together really well.”
2020 has been a tough year across the globe, but it hasn’t stopped Zeleah from going after her dream. With an incredible debut single that will become a summer anthem for the young and the young at heart, Zeleah has the talent, the belief and the passion that will have her voice and music heard for many years to come.
