Oshri unveils the music video for his latest hit single ‘Forget It’

Oshri deals with matters of the heart in an upbeat way as he unveils the music video for his brand-new single ‘Forget It’ out now through Gallo Record Company.

I shot the video for ‘Forget It’ during a hard lockdown in LA. I teamed up with Maile Mason a super talented director and film maker who’s known in the LA scene for her retro/vintage style of shooting. We couldn’t really leave my building due to lockdown so we had to use what the building had to offer and get creative with it.

She brought her VHS camera, we used wall projections, the rooftop, hall ways, the recording studio on the first floor and some object elements to add to the vibe. We knew the focus was going to be the lyrics, but still we wanted to have something in the background that communicated the feel of the song and show my personality,” recalls Oshri while discussing the video concept and shoot.

Oshri kicked off 2021 with the release of his cheerful and feel-good track ‘Forget it’ and talks about the inspiration behind the single and his challenges with love, saying: “Falling in love was never easy for me, I really wanted to, but for some reason I felt like I have some blockage around the relationship area of my life.

Right before I met my girlfriend at the time, I decided to try this nontraditional therapy session. I felt like it was time, time to talk to someone other than my friends or my mom, someone who is a professional listener. After the first session I already had a little breakthrough, and we realized that I’m thinking feelings and not feeling them. I’ll repeat that, ‘I’m thinking feelings I’m not feeling feelings’, meaning I’m judging and analyzing every feeling instead of just going with it. Sounds simple, right? Well this simple idea changed everything.”

For the first time in a long time, Oshri let himself feel with a new girl, not trying to know where it was going. “It felt great, it was liberating. I was on top of the world, butterflies in my stomach and unicorns in my eyes – I was high, high on love,” recalls Oshri.

But then something wasn’t right. Distance was created. I wanted to move forward but she pulled back, and back, and further back until it was over. I was sad, but I didn’t show it. I needed some time out, a good time with good friends to help me forget, and then I realized: She wasn’t meant to stay, she came here to open the door for someone else to walk in and give me so much more.”

Oshri worked with a group of talented South Africans, co-writing the single with Frances Litten and enlisting the producing talents of Benjamin Howard Edward.

It was during my last trip to SA that I had a session with my producer Ben, aka ‘he produced it’, and a songwriter named Frances. We talked about what’s going on in my life and the song just came to life. I’m very happy with the way we told the breakup story: honest and uplifting.”
