Riky Rick’s Cotton Fest Laid to Rest. – It is with heavy hearts that the organisers of CottonFest today announced that the festival has come to an end.
Following the announcement of the 2026 festival earlier this year, differences among current shareholders have led to disputes. After careful internal review and consideration, it has become clear that the shareholders no longer share the same long-term vision. This divergence has placed strain on operations. Therefore, it has made it increasingly challenging to continue the festival. One that upholds the standards and vision set out by its sole founder, Riky Rick.
Bianca Naidoo’s Statement
“CottonFest has always been rooted in creativity, community and cultural celebration. Focused on creating a platform for the youth to shine. We remain extremely proud of what the festival has achieved, We are deeply grateful for the support it has received from our fans, partners and the artists over the years. The differences in the festival’s vision and purpose among the two parties has made it clear to our family and the team, that concluding this chapter is the most realistic path forward.” ~ CottonFest owner / organiser Bianca Naidoo
The team emphasizes that this decision was made after careful consideration. It is in the best interest of all parties, including staff, collaborators and the broader community. Those that have supported the festival since its inception over 7 years ago.
Festival founder, Bianca Naidoo, together with the Makhado family have expressed appreciation for everyone who has contributed to CottonFest’s growth and its impact on the arts and entertainment landscape. The drive to keep Riky’s legacy alive.
Although the festival will not continue under its existing structure, the Creative Programme, will continue to build on the initiatives it has already achieved. Creating different opportunities for young talent throughout the year. The team remains optimistic about future plans. This, in a deeper support for creative expression in new and meaningful ways for the youth to be celebrated.
