Firecracker Alex Solomon Reclaims her Voice – Rising South African rock-pop singer-songwriter Alex Solomon is back. Louder, sassier, and more unapologetic than ever with her brand-new single, ‘STUPID,’ out now on all major streaming platforms.

A rebellious burst of energy, ‘Stupid’ marks a daring shift in direction for Alex. Her previous emotional ballad, ‘Typical You’, captured hearts across South Africa.

“There wasn’t a specific ‘story’ behind STUPID. It was honestly just a happy accident. We went into the studio to have fun, no pressure, just screams, writing, and pure spontaneity. That’s how STUPID came to life.”

The release follows a hiatus for the Plettenberg Bay-born artist, who rose to fame with chart-toppers like EX-GIRLFRIEND and No Platonic Male Friends. “The break wasn’t intentional,” she explains. “I went through a difficult period that forced me to slow down. But I’ve come out stronger, and this single is proof of that.”

Combining punchy guitar riffs, infectious hooks, and raw energy, STUPID nods to the sound of Olivia Rodrigo and early Miley Cyrus. The song still stays true to Solomon’s distinct voice. “My music is meant to be felt. It’s a little chaotic, a little loud. That’s exactly the point. Life is short, so why not dance, shout, and live fully in the moment?”

Although STUPID was written in 2022, Solomon says now felt like the right time to release it. “I kept waiting for the ‘perfect moment,’ and then I realized it doesn’t exist. So, I took the leap. And now I get to relive that carefree 22-year-old energy. It’s been selfishly amazing!”

With more music already in the pipeline including an unreleased fan favorite from before 2022 and a brand-new single written this year, Solomon is ready to reignite the flame she started on stages and airwaves years ago.

“This is just the beginning,” she teases. “There’s a lot more coming.”
