The prolific mumble rapper Angie oeh already has two collaborative bangers under her belt for 2023: ‘Die Way Sy‘ with Biggy and ‘Die Lewe is ‘n Lied‘ with Van Pletzen and Loufi. And now Angie is ready to drop the first of at least four solo singles for this year titled ‘Te Sexy‘.
Angie ended 2022 by moving out of the North-Eastern Pretoria Moot area where she was raised. She started reflecting on the past 23 years of living in the unique atmosphere of Die Moot with Drake’s ‘Way 2 Sexy‘ playing in the background. Inspired by the fresh start and the culture of the Die Moot, Angie started penning the first lyrics to ‘Te Sexy‘. “Ek is te damn sexy vir die Moot”.
“Die Moot has many iconic places and I have loads of memories growing up in the urban village setting that will always stay in my mind when I’m writing music. ‘Te sexy’ is a tribute to the place and culture that raised me, but also about outgrowing the leafy suburb and moving on to bigger things,” says Angie.
In line with all the big changes Angie also worked with producer Loki Rothman for the first time to shape and finalise ‘Te Sexy‘ at Loki’s studio in Bellville, Cape Town. ‘Te Sexy‘ is Angie’s take on the iconic 90’s hit ‘I’m Too Sexy‘ by Right Said Fred and Drake’s more recent ‘Way 2 Sexy‘ hit featuring Future and Young Thug.
