Nalu Embraces A New Sonic Chapter With ‘Meteor’
A Pop-Driven Single that transforms personal heartbreak into light

Nalu Embraces A New Sonic Chapter With ‘Meteor.’ – Born and raised in Cape Town, Nalu has long been celebrated for her genre-blending sound. A rich mix of jazz, R&B, acoustic soul, and lo-fi. Also, for her ability to translate womanhood, self-love, and human connection into art that resonates deeply. Now, the singer-songwriter steps boldly into her pop era with Meteor, a dreamy, empowering new single that transforms personal heartbreak into light.
“This is my reminder to anyone healing from betrayal: your light can’t be dimmed, only redirected,” she shares. “And even the most destructive impact can leave behind stardust.” Rooted in her signature introspection and emotional honesty, Meteor marks the beginning of a new chapter in the evolving Naluverse.
Raw, honest, and sonically uplifting, Meteor captures the moment you reclaim your power after a painful separation. Though written from the aftermath of a friendship breakup, the message reaches far beyond one story. “Meteor is about reclaiming yourself, and your power, after losing someone you thought would always be in your life,” Nalu explains. “Writing this song was my way of taking that power back, of choosing self-validation after being made to doubt my own truth.”
How ‘Meteor’ came about
The track began as a spark of inspiration during a late-night YouTube scroll. Nalu stumbled on a beat that unlocked what she needed. “I wanted to bring lightness to something that once felt dark and make a fun, freeing record out of the pain of the past.”
With the new single, Nalu leans into what listeners may call her ‘pop era.’ “It happened completely organically,” she shares. “Mixing that pop energy with my R&B roots created this dreamy, floaty sound that I’ve really fallen in love with.” The single also arrives at a time of deep personal evolution. Balancing her 9–5 with her artistry has been demanding but grounding. “Being independent means I get to own my sound and my space. This year really reminded me why I make music – I love it. It’s my gift.”
A bigger project is on the horizon, and Meteor serves as its cosmic entry point. “The world is my oyster right now, and I’m so grateful to be creating again.”
