Jeri Silverman releases ‘Breathe’, her second single from “Dear Life”

Jeri Silverman releases ‘Breathe’ as the 2nd single from her debut full-length album, ‘Dear Life’.

“BREATHE is a whimsical tune about the memory of a past love – of setting unrealistic expectations in another – and ultimately being a hopeless romantic and commitment-phobe at the same time,” explains Silverman.

The single is arguably the most commercial release from Silverman’s album, showcasing an upbeat Pop feel – unlike the rest of ‘Dear Life’ with its more folky, raw and emotionally driven songs such as ‘Wake’; ‘Bend To The Cold’; and ‘If I Could’.

‘Breathe’ follows the previous single ‘I Wonder’ (the music video was released last month).

ABOUT HER DEBUT ALBUM ‘DEAR LIFE’:
“These songs represent parts of my journey in New York, and each has a unique voice. ‘Green’ speaks to trusting your intuition, even when you don’t know exactly where you’re going and ‘If I could’ is a very personal expression of feeling stuck within a relationship and needing to make a difficult decision,” comments Silverman.

‘Dear Life’ is an album about finding your way. It’s an ode to getting stuck in uncomfortable places, a yearning to fly, and a fight to discover the fire within.

The album is the follow-up to Silverman’s debut EP ‘Leaflike’ and unleashes a bolder, more expressive tone that builds on the blend between live acoustic guitar and electronic soundscapes. With influences from artists such as Ani DiFranco, Bjork, Ben Howard and Fleetwood Mac, the album is a collection of songs that explore the interplay between the darkness and light.

Testing the waters by busking NYC’s streets and playing open mics, Jeri was encouraged by her audience’s enthusiastic response and gained the courage to take her songs to the city’s stages and studios.  Honing her craft at famous venues like The Bitter End and Rockwood Music Hall, she penned and perfected the songs that would become her debut EP ‘Leaflike’, released in 2014.

Praised as “a minor masterpiece in miniature” (indiemunity), ‘Leaflike’ received airplay across 111 stations in the US and paved the way for return appearances in South Africa, as well as opportunities to contribute her songwriting to numerous films, documentaries and international commercials.
