Tim Welsh & Thabie Ngethe Rekindle the Spirit of Love
New Dance Anthem 'Ungalibali' out now

Tim Welsh & Thabie Ngethe Rekindle the Spirit of Love – Renowned saxophonist and former Goodluck member Tim Welsh has joined forces with celebrated South African vocalist Thabie Ngethe. This, to release their captivating new three-step anthem, Ungalibali. The title, loosely translates to “don’t forget.” It was born from a viral TikTok duet challenge between the two artists. A moment that revealed just how deeply South Africans connect with fresh, homegrown talent.
Reflecting on how the collaboration came to life
“When I saw Thabie’s duet, I immediately knew she was the vocalist I had been searching for. There is something so beautiful about a song sung in isiZulu, paired with the warmth of a saxophone. I never imagined that an authentic love song on a three-step beat could sound this good. Thabie truly breathed life into it.” ~ Tim Welsh
At its heart, Ungalibali is a poetic love song, carried by tender lyrics such as “Ungalibali, ngingowakho Dali” (Don’t forget, I am yours darling) and “Ilezinyembezi sezesuliwe ngenxa yakho Dali.” (These tears have been wiped away, and it’s because of you, darling). With these words, Thabie reassures her love interest that after years of solitude, she is ready to commit fully. She also reflects on her life before love found its way back to her.
The first demo of Ungalibali was created in 2022. Tim took his time refining the track, determined to give it the creative direction it deserved. “I wasn’t in a rush to complete the song. I take my creative process seriously, and so does Thabie. Crafting such a beautiful love song takes time, and finding the right rhythm was key,” he explains.
With its official release, Ungalibali is already gaining traction across radio stations and streaming platforms worldwide, and shows promise of becoming a chart-topping hit.
