Review of ‘Portraits’ from Diverted Disorder

By Summer-Raine Thesner

Review of ‘Portraits’ from Diverted Disorder – Diverted Disorder’s new track ‘Portraits’ marks a significant departure from their usual heavy, hard-hitting sound. I have to say, it’s a beautiful shift.

The song brings a deeper, more melodic side of the band that I wasn’t expecting. It hit me in a way that felt both refreshing and raw. The way the track unfolds, with its haunting melodies and matching lyrics, shows a vulnerability that is often absent in their earlier work.

As the song speaks to internal battles, I couldn’t help but feel how universally relevant it is. The lyrics are deeply introspective. Painting vivid pictures of mental health struggles, self-doubt, and the overwhelming feeling of being trapped in your own mind. It’s a sentiment that so many people, including myself, can relate to.

There’s something about the way they deliver these emotions through their music that feels incredibly authentic. It’s not just a song, it’s an emotional release.

The shift to a more melodic approach doesn’t just serve the song’s message, but also amplifies the weight of the lyrics. It gives you space to reflect. To feel the depth of what they’re conveying. It’s easy to get lost in the music, almost like a meditation on personal struggles, and that’s not something I would’ve expected from a band known for their heavier, more aggressive sound.

Portraits feels like a true evolution for Diverted Disorder. It’s a track that not only shows a different musical side, but also lets us hear a more vulnerable side to the band. For anyone who’s been battling with personal demons, this song might just feel like a companion. It’s deeply moving, and definitely a track I’ll be coming back to. Bravo guys. We need to see more of this!
