S.W.A.T.’s final season comes to Universal TV
Season 8 sees the squad tackle tougher challenges alongside new additions and special guest appearances.

S.W.A.T.’s final season comes to Universal TV – Things are about to get more intense – and a lot more unpredictable. S.W.A.T. returns to Universal TV (DStv 117) for its explosive eighth and final season. Premiering on 2 July at 8 PM, see new episodes every Thursday until the series finale on 26 November 2026.
Inspired by the television series and the feature film, S.W.A.T. stars Shemar Moore as a former Marine. He is a locally born and raised S.W.A.T. sergeant tasked to run a specialised tactical unit. One that is the last stop in law enforcement in Los Angeles. Shemar is torn between loyalty to where he was raised and allegiance to his brothers in blue. Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson strives to bridge the divide between his two worlds.
The final season
The 20-Squad team is up against some of the biggest threats yet!
From a city-wide blackout that throws Los Angeles into chaos to cases involving stolen radioactive materials, the team faces a wide range of escalating situations this season. Along the way, they are pulled into everything from prison outbreaks and kidnappings to cartel activity and coordinated attacks.
The squad welcomes its newest recruit
Played by Annie Ilonzeh (Peppermint, Person of Interest), Devin Gamble joins the team in Season 8, but her arrival doesn’t come without scrutiny. With a family background deeply entrenched in crime, her addition to the team is met with reservations, particularly from Commander Robert Hicks, creating an interesting new dynamic within the squad.
A familiar face returns to the S.W.A.T. family in new role
Alex Russell (Only the Brave, Unbroken), who played fan-favourite Officer Jim Street in the first six seasons of S.W.A.T., returns to direct the 20th episode of Season 8.
A legendary sports duo in the final season
This season features guest appearances from NBA All-Star Kenny Smith and Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, adding an extra surprise for viewers!
Additional guest stars across the season include Freddy D. Ramsey Jr. and The O.C.’s Melinda Clarke.
The cast also includes Jay Harrington, David Lim, Patrick St. Esprit, Anna Enger Ritch and Niko Pepaj.
