The Bird Releases Reflective new song ‘Traveler’s Heart’ – South African singer-songwriter The Bird, real name Bianca Burt, returns with a deeply personal new single, ‘Traveler’s Heart.’ A tender reflection on love, loss, and the quiet freedom that comes with change. Written during a solo trip to Portugal in May 2024, the song captures the bittersweet beauty of letting go and finding yourself on the road.

Bianca’s musical journey has been anything but linear. Raised in Cape Town and Hermanus, she grew up surrounded by music and began singing at family gatherings and with local bands. After high school, she pursued musical theatre but later stepped away from the stage to build a career in events management, eventually relocating to London in 2008.
Music found her again after her father passed away in 2014. Songwriting became a form of healing, a way to process grief and reconnect with the creative self she’d nearly left behind. Since then, her songs have become journal entries. Raw, honest reflections of motherhood, divorce, love, and loss.

Now based mostly in Cape Town, Bianca creates music under the name The Bird – a symbol of freedom, perspective, and finding one’s way home. Her sound blends folk and pop influences with poetic storytelling, offering listeners comfort, connection, and catharsis. “Traveler’s Heart speaks to that moment we all experience—when you realise you have to leave something behind in order to grow,” she shares. “It’s about returning to yourself.”
