A helping hand for Ray of Hope Home

A helping hand for Ray of Hope Home – The Ray of Hope Babies Home has a brand new set of wheels courtesy of the Sibaya Community Trust. Sibaya heeded the call for assistance after the Home’s primary vehicle was stolen.

In addition to the new seven-seater vehicle, the Trust has also provided operational funding to support the Home which cares for abandoned babies. The vehicle was handed over to Ray of Hope Babies Home in May by Trustee Tristan Kaatze and Chairman, Vivian Reddy.

Chairman of the Sibaya Community Trust Comments

We are deeply moved by the unwavering and selfless efforts of the Ray of Hope Babies Home. Providing a sanctuary for abandoned babies and removing young children from environments of neglect. As a nonprofit organisation, the Ray of Hope Babies Home relies heavily on support. For this, it relies on public and corporate sectors to continue its service to the community. We are pleased to be in a position to be able to contribute R300 000 towards a new vehicle and operational support. This, we hope, will help to alleviate some of the financial burden the home faces,” says Vivian Reddy, Chairman of the Sibaya Community Trust.

More about Ray of Hope Home

The Ray of Hope Babies Home in Glenhills, Durban was established in 2009. They provide sanctuary for babies in preparation for foster care or adoption. Since its establishment, the Home has placed over 53 babies into foster homes and reunited some babies with their families.

Most of the babies that come to the Home are sick and malnourished. Many of the babies being HIV positive. The Home nurses them back to health. They also provide much needed love and care. The Home currently accommodates six babies as this is the maximum regulated by law. The babies are aged from newborn to three and a half years old.

The Home provides for the babies’ most basic needs. This includes shelter, food and warmth. Meeting running costs such as electricity, water, security, transport, in addition to food, nappies and medicine is an ongoing challenge.

We thank Sibaya Community Trust for its generous sponsorship of a vehicle and operational funding. Without the support of the public and corporate funders, Ray of Hope Baby Home would not be in a position to care for babies that come to us for sanctuary,” says Ray Bush a Trustee of Ray of Hope.
