Karabo ‘KMass’ Masemola Joins YFM – After three remarkable years of service to the Alexandra community through community radio, Karabo “KMass” Masemola has reached a milestone on the road to fulfilling her dreams. KMass will be heading into the prime time of radio broadcasting as she leaves ALEX FM to join Africa’s most vibrant youth radio station, YFM. As she departs from community radio, she leaves behind a legacy of dedication, community impact and undeniable growth.

Karabo Masemola first joined ALEX FM as the host of a youthful hip hop show, The Mixtape Show. Here, her talent and magnetic energy quickly caught the eyes of ALEX FM’s Programmes Leadership. This lead to her promotion as host of the mid-morning weekday show on prime time broadcasting.
During her journey within the ALEX FM platform, her talent and growth was clear-cut and duly noted. This paved the way for an even greater opportunity on the ALEX FM platform. She was then given the position as host on an even bigger prime time show, ‘The Fast Lane‘ afternoon drive-time show. There Karabo captured hearts across the Alexandra community and beyond.
Karabo ‘KMass’ Masemola Shines Bright
Alongside her on-air presence, KMASS meaningfully utilised her platform to give back to the community. This, through her non-profit organization The Share Button Foundation. She has organized and lead numerous charity initiatives to support old age and children’s homes in Alexandra, embodying the Spirit of Ubuntu that ALEX FM stands for.
Kmass now sails towards conquering the world of broadcast media as she climbs aboard the YFM ship! YFM is undoubtedly South Africa’s leading youth radio station. She is currently hosting The Playground With KMass every Friday morning between 03h00 and 05h00. Here, she continues to connect with, and inspire her growing audience.
On her way to radio broadcasting dominance, Karabo has proved that her industry peers should brace themselves. The entrance of a real diamond in the rough is now gunning for that number one spot. Her broadcasting prowess is evident with her voice now on two different radio platforms, something that is not a norm within the radio broadcast sector.
The journey has not been an easy one due to the difficulties and obstacles that ALEX FM have faced over the last 10 years, but Karabo “KMass” Masemola certainly played a big part in their survival and success for the community audio/radio broadcast brand.
The station may have lost a staff member amongst other losses in 2021 and 2022, but Alex FM brand will forever be the platform that unearthed a diamond in the rough as YFM now polish that find.

Karabo’s aspirations remain deeply rooted in using her voice. Influencing to achieve positive impact as she makes her way further within the commercial radio space. She aspires to reach her fullest potential with YFM developing and propelling her to greater heights.
