Former Miss Universe, Margaret Gardiner, will be releasing her high;y anticipated novel, “Damaged Beauty, Joey Superstar.” Set to officially release in March 2025, this powerful narrative delves deep into the untold struggles and challenges faced by women, offering a compelling and thought-provoking read. We spoke exclusively to Margaret Gardiner, about being the author of her new book!
Q: What was your favourite part about writing the book?
Margaret: The characters take on a life of their own. Joey was an adjunct character. She demanded to be a superstar.
Q: How long did it take to write the book?
Margaret: I started writing scenes years ago. I constantly write. Sometimes I do nothing with it. Other times it becomes a three-book series.
Q: Who is your favourite character and why?
Margaret: I mean Joey. She is so broken and brave. Misunderstood. Sure. A mess. She copes in ways that damage. That I would never do. She does things I never would. But that are logical to her. I know a lot of Joeys. She has a huge heart. I think you love her by the end. You root for her.
Q: What is the key message you want readers to take from the book?
Margaret: Don’t self- damage. Don’t allow others to damage you. Get help if you are struggling. Be kind to yourself. Things may go wrong. It’s not the end of the world. Rest. Realign. Assess. Fix what is broken. Make your life right. That’s actually a quote from the book.
