After Two Releases Year of Dogs are back with their Third single ‘You Got Me’ and it’s a Hat-trick!

As the adage suggests – “third time’s a charm” and with the success of their previous two singles, we can expect nothing but a hat-trick from Capetonian four piece indie funk pop band Year of Dogs !
Their debut single ‘Sweet Red’ was released on January 15, 2021 and was featured on New Music Friday South Africa, SAlt, BIRP!FM and Compact Cassette, gathering a whopping 25 000 streams on Spotify in it’s first month coupled with thousands of views on YouTube.
The follow up single ‘Jade’, released on February 26, 2021 and is a tongue-in-cheek tale of a Tinder love not meant to be, bringing us smooth, chill out vibes, perfect for that beanbag & hookah sesh with the besties or just vegging on the sofa staring at the roof doing nothing at all – It’s just feel good groovy stuff!
Today sees Year of Dogs third release – ‘You Got Me’, produced in partnership with Josh Berry, which features Andrew Hoole, bringing the magic with sultry saxophone vibes.
The track opens with the smooth soulful belts of the saxophone followed by raised-seven chord progressions, echoing reminiscent of Patrick Carney’s BoJack Horseman Theme. It then transitions into an explosive psychfunk chorus and outro, with the song’s funked-up guitar riffs, big rhythm section, and haunting vocal harmonies bringing a burst of fresh energy to the listener’s ear. – You Got Me‘ will get you!

‘You Got Me’ draws on boyhood and coming of age, a time when some of the tightest friendships are formed. It is a nostalgic glimpse back to the not so distant past, representing and combining themes of time and change with togetherness and camaraderie. ~ Year of Dogs
