James Deacon’s new single ‘Rain On Me’ is testament to how the alternative pop singer can weather any storm!

James Deacon’s latest single “Rain On Me”, shows how the singer-songwriter isn’t afraid to take repeated punches.

James Deacon releases his new single “Rain On Me” today, May 29th, through Bad Future Records. His career trajectory hasn’t always been the easiest, with the multi-instrumentalist experiencing his fair share of setbacks: from an accident that nearly ended his guitar playing, to his recent vocal cord surgery.

But James is as resilient as they come and after he was fully healed he wrote “Rain On Me”, an uplifting anthem that stands strong in the face of adversity, reflecting on how the surgery could have changed his voice permanently.

Melodically, this track fuses the characteristic, moody ebb and flow of James’ discography with light, flitting electronic elements, akin to an uplifting Rag’n’Bone Man composition, conjuring a wave of positivity.

James Deacon’s “Rain On Me” is not only reflective in subject matter and in feel, but the tone and musical environment is sonically modern with a vocal performance that’s unmistakable.

“The lyrics are about being in a fight because it felt like the universe was beating me up and raining punches down on me. I reference not being able to speak or make any sounds at all for three weeks post-surgery, which nearly drove me insane!” James exclaims when asked about the song’s lyrical content.

With James’ work receiving online support from lauded sites Complex, Record of The Day, Earmilk and CLASH, playlisting on Passport Approved, an independent internationally syndicated tastemaker import radio show that airs on over 70 radio stations and six continents worldwide, and HBO selecting his single ‘Son Of Apollo’ to soundtrack an 8-week movie promo campaign in America, there’s much excitement around the progression of his 2020.

Ahead of the release of his second EP Renegade on the 12th of June, “Rain On Me” has Deacon declaring that he’s ready to handle whatever’s thrown at him next.
