Good Morning Angels - A legacy of tangible impact
Mam’ Khanyi Motsa’s Home of Hope Stands as Testament to Good Morning Angels Legacy – For two decades, Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels has embodied the spirit of kindness, compassion, and community that South Africans are known for. Since its inception in 2005, Good Morning Angels has brought together ordinary people and extraordinary generosity to change lives, one story at a time.
Mam’ Khanyi Motsa’s Home of Hope
One such story is that of Mam’ Khanyi Motsa. She is the founder and director of Home of Hope. An organisation in Berea, Johannesburg that provides safety, education, and love to vulnerable children. Many of these children were rescued from lives of abuse and exploitation.
In 2018, Mam’ Khanyi’s story reached the Good Morning Angels team, who shared her incredible journey with listeners across the country. What followed was an outpouring of generosity that restored hope to her organisation and the hundreds of children in her care.
The Good Morning Angels Fund donated R20,000 to help pay Home of Hope’s municipal bills and school fees. After hearing her story on air, the Business for Empowerment Trust contributed an additional R25,000, groceries, 40 duvets and pillows. Whipple donated two computers, a printer, and networking equipment to boost educational resources. Listeners raised a further R11,000 in cash, ensuring the girls had everything they needed for months to come.
“The support from Good Morning Angels helped us a lot. We had groceries for three months, school uniforms for the children, and we could pay our bills. It was during COVID, a very difficult time, and they were truly angels in our lives.” ~ Mam’ Khanyi
Since founding Home of Hope in 2000, Mam’ Khanyi has helped more than 17,000 children, many of whom have gone on to become successful professionals and leaders. “We are still standing today because of people with good hearts who hold our hands and help us move forward,” she says.
Good Morning Angels – A legacy of tangible impact
Her story is just one of thousands that reflect the heart of Good Morning Angels. An initiative that has, over the past 20 years, built a legacy of tangible impact across South Africa. Life-saving surgeries and school rebuilds to community upliftment and small acts of kindness. Good Morning Angels continues to prove that when compassion leads, transformation follows.
“Good Morning Angels is proof that South Africans care deeply for one another. Mam’ Khanyi’s story reminds us that even one act of kindness can ripple through generations. That’s the true legacy of Good Morning Angels.” ~ Martin Bester
Good Morning Angels celebrates 20 years
As Good Morning Angels celebrates 20 years of changing lives, the message remains simple yet powerful: kindness costs nothing, but its impact is priceless. “My message to the Good Morning Angels team is to keep going,” says Mam’ Khanyi. “We still need you, not tomorrow, but today. Let’s march forward together.”
Listen to Good Morning Angels every Wednesday morning on Jacaranda FM’s Breakfast With Martin Bester and relive some of the most feel-good moments of the past 20 years with ‘Good Morning Angels: The Legacy’ every Monday morning.
