From the first bar of VenusRaps’ new EP ‘Superstar,’ it is evident that the record is rightfully named. Formerly one of Johannesburg’s best kept secrets, KZN born VenusRaps’ (born Vanessa Ndlovu) stardom has been on the rise over the past few years since leaving her home town to make it big!
She has had the pleasure of collaborating with BIG names such as Adidas and Digital creator Ofentse Mwase, and has also featured on Yo! MTV Raps, MTV Base Cypher, Trace Africa, and the Zakwe KZN Freestyle Cypher. Not one for fluff or adlibs, VenusRaps pen game is focused, colourful, and deadly throughout ‘Superstar’ as she seamlessly weaves together melodic hooks and brutal bars that would make any battle rapper blush.
‘Superstar’ is one of several EPs that resulted from the now legendary Re.decay songwriting camp at Jazzworx Studios in late 2022, where VenusRaps and 11 other talented, young South African artists came together for a week of creativity under the guidance of Berlin based producers and label owners Owen Ross and Emanuel Bender.
