She is optimistic, energetic, positive and sincere and when you look into her blue eyes for the first time, you cannot help but notice the compassion she has for others. She is Rita Li, the soulful blonde who has won over the hearts of music lovers since the release of her first single – ‘My Eerste My Laaste’ – 18 months ago.
Now she is back in the spotlight with a brand-new single, ‘Iemand Anders’. This Afrikaans pop song, written by Dewald Wasserfall and Danny Smoke, has just been released and is about a love triangle and all the emotions and struggles that goes with it.
“Danny Smoke watched a movie in which a woman cheated on her husband and he wanted to capture the emotion of this situation in a song, which he wrote with Dewald Wasserfall the next day,” the singer explains.
“We have all had to make relationship decisions at some point in our lives. Each of us want to be loved and feel that we belong somewhere. When we do not experience this in our relationships, we end up looking for it elsewhere – usually in the wrong place. I have seen how the right decision can make you blossom and be an inspiration to someone else who are struggling with their own choices.”
A music video of the song will be released on 26 February 2021, but the singer doesn’t want to reveal too much about it at this stage.
‘Iemand Anders‘ is the first release from her upcoming album, ‘Roekeloos Verlief‘, which will be released on 9 April 2021. Great things are predicted for the single and upcoming album that were both produced by Murray Lubbe.
Rita Li grew up on a farm in Clocolan in the Free State. She currently lives in Pretoria with her husband and son and has not only mastered the piano and flute, but also has a coaching qualification in tap dance. She was working as a sports physiotherapist for ten years before deciding to pursue her music career full-time.
The artist is optimistic about the future and says: “I am already planning my next album as well as a nationwide tour and several local shows. Furthermore, I am also working on developing my own clothing line and online store. I want my music to touch people’s hearts and want to continue sharing the stories that come my way.”
