DJ Gron Takes a ‘Leap of Faith’ – The 26 year old musical virtuoso hails from northern KZN, in a small town called Nquthu. He recently decided to spoil his fans by releasing two of his radio singles. These were taken from his newly released EP titled “Leap of Faith“.
After being bitten by the music bug very early through playing the keyboard at church, Gron decided to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree. He attended the University of KwaZulu-Natal where he majored in music and business management.
Although he is now based in Johannesburg, Gron has worked as a resident radio host and DJ on the global online radio station, Oroko radio. He hosted a monthly show called The Music Business Show. Gron has also worked for The Playhouse Company. There, he recorded in studio as an assistant sound engineer and as an independent field researcher for the Music In Africa Foundation.
His experience and knowledge on various sectors of the music business has broadened his expertise in working with artists. This helped forge many of the relationships he has in the music industry.
Taking the ‘Leap of Faith’
In the beginning of 2024 Gron decided to take a ‘leap of faith’ and quit his job. This move, to pursue what he believed was his true calling. The process forced him to lean on his faith more than he has ever done before and it led to a string of collaborations.
One of those collaborations resulted in “Ngikonile.” A touching song about the importance of forgiveness. Gron released this as his first single earlier this year. The song features guest vocalists, Lenza Musiq and Slash.
The second radio release is aptly titled “Kungcono Uhambe.” “The EP is essentially a musical journey about faith, love, courage and purpose”, adds Gron.
‘Leap of Faith’ is now officially available for streaming and download on DSPs.
